My treatment model
Assess. Release. Activate. Rebuild.
Four steps in a fixed order. Hands-on treatment aims to ease pain and improve movement, and exercise builds on it.
- 1

Assess
We start with your story. What hurts, when it started, what changed around then, and what you want to do again. Then I look at how you move, often with Functional Range Assessment®, and test the positions and loads that bring on your symptoms.
We pick one or two goals to track, such as a heavy set of five, a pain-free night's sleep or a full day at work. I check them as we go so progress is something you can see.
- 2

Release
Hands-on soft-tissue treatment to the areas that are contributing, using techniques such as Active Release Techniques® and Functional Range Release®, or instrument-assisted treatment. The aim is less pain and more usable movement.
Where it fits, I may also use neurofunctional acupuncture. I am a chiropractor, and I provide acupuncture as an adjunctive therapy within chiropractic care. Read more.

Activate
Right after you gain movement, I teach you to control it. Exercises, often based on Functional Range Conditioning®, ask your muscles to control the new range, which helps the change hold.
You leave with a short home routine you can do in a few minutes.

Rebuild
Progressive loading takes you back to full training. We raise load, range and complexity in steps, and we keep training the parts of your programme that stay comfortable while the injured area catches up.
This is where I draw on the Internal Strength Model®, a tissue-specific, structured and progressive approach to building strength.
The aim is a return to the training you want, with a plan for what to do if the problem flares again. I cannot guarantee any outcome, and results vary from person to person.
Your first visit
- A conversation about your history, training and goals
- A movement and physical exam
- A plain-language explanation of what I found and what I suggest
- Treatment on the first visit if it makes sense, and a starting home plan
Wear clothes you can move in. If you lift, bring your training log if you keep one, and a short video of the lift that bothers you.
What about adjustments?
My treatment relies mainly on soft-tissue work and exercise. Joint manipulation is a small part of what I do. If I think one could help, I will explain why and you decide.
